You know that this is true folks. We allow our government to grow bigger and all in the name of "security" and "protection." Yet when it comes to getting people to be more self reliant by decreasing welfare, people go nuts. I mean people when nuts when Mitt Romney said that if he was president he would have the government stop giving PBS money. And the only reason why is because PBS makes more money off of people donating the money than they do from the government.

Yet people thought that PBS was going to be bankrupt if the government stopped giving them money. The same thing happens to people on welfare. You try to get able body people out the door and say "Work," and it's like you poured acid on their face. We live in a generation in which people are less self reliant than they were 20-30 years ago.

I'm not making this to say that welfare is bad, cause it's not. Welfare has it's usage, like for people who aren't able to work and are disabled. Or people who are going through a rough time and needs extra help. But there's a difference between using welfare to be more self-reliant and just being plain lazy.

I've talked to people living on welfare and they did not need to be on that program. They were able to move around and do stuff without any trouble. They could work, but they choose not to. They would just sit around for the check and nothing more. It's human nature to go out and work and be self-reliant. How else would people eat before modern buildings were built. Anyway that's all I have fore right now.

I have been on both sides of the welfare fence. One side where I need food stamps and unemployment and such to live, the other where I just barely make too much and it is hell to get by. It's a rough thing to do. I mean you work enough to pay your own bills but can't afford much food and I have to make sure I stay just below the poverty line or I don't get medicaid and I can't pay for my seizure meds. You see I have epilepsy and just because they can't deny me for it, doesn't mean they can't gouge me for it. My uncle who lived with my grandparents was going to be charged 500 a month after subsidy if they hadn't gotten him on state insurance. And trust me, when you just break the line for being too "well off" to get food stamps and not well off enough to pay for things besides bolonga and ramen, you really wonder if advancing yourself was worth it. If you are not clearing $16-$20 an hour, good luck paying anything buddy. And that is with one person. I know if I had to pay rent plus utilites, my income alone at that would not do it. I would have to get a second job to afford food and supplies. It ain't easy being that low
